I AM VERY UNFIT SO FIND EXERCISE DAUNTING.  CAN YOU HELP ME OVERCOME MY UNCERTAINTY?

Absolutely!  Everyone is different in their requirements, abilities and confidence levels.  I assess cardio fitness levels as well as strength, mobility, flexibility etc and we will work closely together (this is a partnership) to progress you at the right time and in the right way.  I will always be aware of your levels of exertion during exercise so that I can recognise when to push you further or if necessary hold you back a bit!  This is done by using heart rate monitors eg fitness watches, HR chest strap or a simple scale of 1-10 (Rate of Perceived Exertion).  I encourage open discussion to get the best out of the sessions and you'll be amazed at just how much you are capable of.

HOW OFTEN WOULD I HAVE TO WORKOUT?

This will totally depend on what you are trying to achieve, by when and of course how much time you are prepared to give.  This is something that we discuss during our initial consultation, but as a guide I would expect to see you once or twice a week with you doing some exercise of your own outside of that.

I DON'T HAVE ANY EQUIPMENT AT THE MOMENT BUT WOULD LIKE TO BUY SOME, WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND?

This will depend on your preference for types of training and what would be useful to complement the training you do with me.  You don't need anything specific for cardio training unless you particularly want a treadmill or rowing machine in your home.  However I would recommend some weights and or resistance bands as resistance training is very important for ongoing strength and bone health.  Perhaps start with some light dumbbells such as 1kg, 2kg and 3kg.  You will learn how to use these during your training sessions.

WHAT SORT OF CLOTHES DO I NEED TO WEAR?

Anything that is comfortable that allows you move freely.  Layers are good as you will get hot!  A good pair of trainers is important.  Make sure they are a good fit and get a comfortable pair of socks to go in them!   There's nothing worse than socks that slip down into the shoe halfway through a workout!

DO I HAVE TO SIGN UP A MINIMUM NUMBER OF SESSIONS?

You can sign up to however many sessions you want to.  Check out services for pricing plans.  If you book 8 or more then the price per session is discounted.  You decision will depend on what you are trying to achieve, what your window of opportunity is and of course how much you want to spend.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I HAVE TO CANCEL MY SESSION?

I have a 24 hour cancellation policy whereby if notice of cancellation is less than 24 hours then it is unlikely that the session will be rescheduled or a refund given.  However, I am committed to completing all purchased sessions and recognise that extenuating circumstances can arise (eg illness, family emergencies etc) and therefore discretion will be used accordingly.  If more than 24 hours notice is given then I will do my utmost to reschedule the session as soon as possible.

WHAT DO I GET FOR MY SESSION FEE?

The session that you purchase is only part of the package.  Each session is planned in advance and will be part of any overall programme that I prescribe for you.  Face to face sessions will be where we work together on exercise skills and technique.  Any programme written for you will include sessions that you can do on your own.  You will also receive ongoing support, advice and practical help.  If you are seeking to lose weight and need nutritional advice and help then this will be included.

CAN I BUY SESSIONS FOR SOMEONE ELSE?
